SUSHI MAKI JOINS “KIDS LIVEWELL” TO HIGHLIGHT COMMITMENT TO CHILDREN’S HEALTHY EATING
Miami, FL – February 9, 2012 - Citing its commitment to offering healthful menu options to its youngest customers, Sushi Maki announced today it has signed on to “Kids LiveWell,” a first-of-its-kind nationwide initiative that highlights restaurants’ innovative solutions to providing better-for-you menu items, led by the National Restaurant Association in collaboration with Healthy Dining.
“Sushi Maki is a strong advocate for healthy living and eating, especially when it comes to kids. We are excited to join Kids LiveWell, and showcase our nutritious children’s offerings.” said Abe Ng, Sushi Maki’s CEO and CSO (Chief Sushi Officer) of Sushi Maki. “Following our recent launch of sushi into Miami-Dade Public High School lunch programs, this collaboration is a natural next step. With three young children of my own, I know how important it is to make healthy and delicious options available to families.”

Sushi Maki’s Kids LiveWell menu options include the following items:
• Cool Kids Cali Roll - kani krab, avocado, cucumber, masago & sesame seeds
• Chicken Teriyaki – natural chicken breast, marinated and simply grilled
• Salmon Teriyaki - grilled sushi-grade salmon, served with teriyaki sauce
All items are served with brown rice, edamame (soy bean pods), orange slices and a drink. Sushi Maki’s Kids LiveWell menu options meet nutrition criteria based on leading health organizations’ scientific recommendations, including the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines.

“It is so exciting to see the variety of restaurants that are leading the industry in offering a selection of ‘Kids LiveWell’ choices,” said Anita Jones-Mueller, MPH, President of Healthy Dining. “These choices emphasize lean protein, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat or fat-free dairy and unsaturated fats—all of which are the ingredients that help children grow, thrive and do their best. This new initiative contributes to the health and well-being of our nation’s children and future generations.”
The National Restaurant Association launched the Kids LiveWell program in collaboration with Healthy Dining to help parents and children select healthful menu options when dining out. “Kids LiveWell underscores that restaurants can be part of the solution to ensuring a healthier generation and providing consumer choice in dining options,” said Dawn Sweeney, President and CEO of the National Restaurant Association.
