Sushi Maki is all about good, good-for-you food in a super cool place. No pretense, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients
or attitudes!

Delicious Fishes


Sushi Maki is the first and only sushi chain in the United States to earn Marine Stewardship Council Certification.  In 2012, we partnered with the Marine Stewardship Council, the world’s leading non-profit organization promoting sustainable fishing practices, to source seafood product from certified sustainable fisheries from around the world.  Sushi Maki utilizes rigorous internal traceability systems and undergoes annual surveillance audits to ensure MSC certified seafood is not being sourced from illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing.

What does this mean?  Sushi Maki is taking it upon ourselves to guarantee we have fish in the ocean for generations to come!  Currently, we offer the following MSC-certified seafood items:

Our Chilean sea bass comes from a small fishery located in the Antarctic region around the island of South Georgia and the South Sandwich islands in the south Atlantic Ocean.

Our kanikama krab, or surimi, is made from MSC Certified Alaskan Pollock from the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands in the gulf of Alaska.

Our delicious cold water lobster comes from a progressive sustainable fishery in Nova Scotia, Canada committed to responsible fishing and harvesting.

Our scallops come from fisheries in Argentina and Canada, where they are frozen within one hour of harvesting, locking in the natural sweet flavor of the shellfish.

Sushi Maki only imports sustainably harvested salmon from the most healthy, well-managed farms.

Our primary supplier imports Hiddenfjord salmon from the Faroe Islands and from Norway, where the water is cold, clean and home to one of the most comprehensive and stringent aquaculture veterinarian regulatory regimes in the world.
This ensures the health and welfare of the fishes, as well as mama earth.

Our longstanding relationship with this widely respected and recognized salmon importer allows us to request inspection and quality reports, ensuring traceability.
